What you'll love
The city center includes over twenty restored historical buildings. You’ll notice a strong resemblance to Disneyland on Main Street USA – it’s modeled after Downtown Fort Collins! The European-style alleys have been decorated with potted flowers and Tivoli lights and they look really beautiful. Strewn with artistic pianos, romantic streets, cozy restaurants, and open squares, the center impresses with its charm.
Downtown Fort Collins also has its own creative district which has been created to serve as a hub for creative economic activities, which in turn strengthens the area as a desirable place to live and visit. Downtown Fort Collins offers plenty of daytime and evening activities. As a university city, the nightlife scene is bustling, there is a lively mix of art, culture, restaurants, craft drinks, and live entertainment.
Fort Collins is located at the foot of the Rocky Mountain foothills in the northern Front Range. Geographical landmarks are Horsetooth Reservoir and Horsetooth Mountain – so named for the tooth-shaped granite rock.
Fort Collins’s economy is a mix of manufacturing and service activities. Many high-tech companies moved to Fort Collins due to the resources of Colorado State University and its research facilities. Other industries include clean energy, life sciences, and agro-technology enterprises.
The bicycle is a popular and cost-effective means of transportation in Fort Collins. The city has over 280 miles of designated bicycle lanes in its streets, and Spring Creek and Poudre River Trails, both paved. There is also a dirt track, the Foothills Trail 5.8 miles, parallel to the Horsetooth Reservoir from Dixon Reservoir north to Campeau Open Space and Michaud Lane. The Bicycle Library is located in the center of Fort Collins in Old Town Square and provides bicycles to guests, students, and residents wishing to explore Fort Collins.
